Oblivion has already arrived, the latest science fiction movie with Tom Cruise. Oblivion was directed by Joseph Kosinski, the same director who made Tron: Legacy three years ago, where in this case he's also created the script. The star of the film, where the story revolves around him, is Tom Cruise and the rest of the main cast are Olga Kurylenko, Morgan Freeman, Nicolaj Coster who appear in the series of Game of Thrones and Andrea Riseborough.
Oblivion is set in an apocalyptic world, specifically in New York in the 2073s. It was filmed on the location in Iceland where there are amazing and virgin landscapes like Earl's Peak.
The plot of the movie is as follows: In the future the Earth is attacked by an alien race and the surviving members of humanity are taken to a new home. Jack (Tom Cruise) and his colleague Victoria (Riseborough) stay behind to protect the machinery harvesting the planet's resources, but Jack stars to suspect there is something strange and meaningless in his mission, why do they have to leave the world if they won the war?
Oblivion is a good movie in all aspects, perhaps it has weaknesses in the script of the characters, where some dialogues of the characters are superficial and shows us performances a little away from human behavior because in some moments there isn't a great deepness in the relationships among characters. However the rest of the script is quite good, despite it's not being as original as Joseph Kosinski wanted us to believe.
The acting is correct and perhaps, the best of the film and what the audience shall really enjoy it will be accompany Jack's traveling around this imaginary world created by Joseph, who demonstrates that is masterful in this aspect, showing us an alive world with all kinds of details in the tecnology,gadgets,weapons...
I definitely recommend Oblivion because it's a pure visual spectacle, with wonderful and breathtaking scenes, with a good script that works throughout the movie and I'm sure that lovers of science fiction will enjoy it.
